CHESTERFIELD, NC (WJZY) - Authorities are now calling a fatal house fire suspicious.
Fire crews responded to the call around 1 a.m. Thursday at a home on New Hope Church Road in Chesterfield.
Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Crews found the body of 36-year-old Robert Anderson 3rd inside the home.
Sheriff Jay Brooks said it's suspicious because they found Anderson's truck with the door open.
"His truck was here with the door open like he had just ran back inside. We called SLED Arson Team here to help us investigate and SLED Forensic Team," Sheriff Brooks said.
Sheriff's Brooks said they couldn't find what caused the fire and as of now they haven't found any witnesses.
Anderson spent some time in federal prison and was wearing an ankle monitor when they found his body.
