Denver rooting for Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl

Make no mistake about it -- Denver, N.C. is a Carolina Panthers town.

The town of roughly 30,000 people, 30 minutes from Charlotte, doesn't just share a city name with the Colorado capitol -- home of the Denver Broncos who face the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 -- but the local high school shares a similar logo with the Broncos.

The East Lincoln High Mustangs have a logo that is strikingly similar to the Broncos logo.

"People were saying go Broncos and I said, no, this is another Denver, Denver, N.C.," teacher Mark Shanklin said while wearing his high school hat.

Despite their similarities to the Colorado city, fans in Denver, N.C. aren't just rooting for the Panthers -- they're predicting a win.

"There's only going to be one happy group of Denver residents come day after the Super Bowl," Homesteads Grill and Taphouse CEO Byron Sackett said. "And they're going to be right here in Denver, N.C."
