Deputies: Shelby man pistol-whipped, robbed woman

A Shelby man has been arrested in connection to the assault and robbery of a woman in Lincoln County.

On Feb. 21, deputies were called to the 2500 block of Johnstown Road for an assault. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman with a laceration to the head. She was treated at the scene by Medic. The suspect, 33-year-old Buddy Weeks, had already left the scene at that time.

Deputies learned that weeks was at the home to do repair work, and got into an argument with another person there.

The argument continued outside, and the victim was pushed down. When she fell, a gun she was carrying in a holster fell out, and Weeks hit her in the head with it. He and another woman then fled the scene.

The victim's gun was later found in a plastic bag in a wooded area in Gaston County.

Weeks was arrested on Monday, March 4, and charged with felony common law robbery, felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony conspiracy, misdemeanor resist, delay and obstruct a public officer, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule II and misdemeanor communicating threats.

He is being held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $54,000 secured bond. His first court appearance scheduled for March 5.
