Deputy seriously injured after Chesterfield County police chase

A deputy is recovering following a car chase that took place Friday night in Chesterfield County, police say.

The car chase took place in the Ruby area of Chesterfield County and a deputy was seriously injured in what was described as a single vehicle wreck that occurred as a result of the pursuit, police say.

The deputy, Lauren Brock, was conscious on the scene and was airlifted to a hospital in Columbia for treatment. She suffered a broken femur and knee and undewent surgery. Brock is expected to make a full recovery.

It is unclear at this time how or why the pursuit began.
