Dispute between neighbors leads to shooting in Salisbury

A neighborly dispute in Salisbury Saturday evening turned violent after one person was shot in the knee.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 4500 block of Mt. Hope Church Rd. around 10 pm regarding a disturbance between neighbors.

When deputies arrived on scene they found Dusty Bryant, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound to the knee.  He was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Northeast Medical Center by Rowan County EMS.

Deputies say that the neighbor, Joshua Daniel Harrington, 26, was accused of shining a light on the Bryant's residence and when Bryant and his wife went to confront Harrington at his residence is when the shooting occurred. Deputies seized a Smith & Wesson .380 handgun along with several shell casings for evidence.

Investigators will present the evidence and facts of the case to the Rowan County District Attorney on Monday to see if charges will be filed.
