Dolly Parton drops 'Dixie' from Stampede dinner show amid "changing attitudes"

Country singer Dolly Parton has dropped "Dixie" from the name of her popular dinner show. From now on, the attraction will simply be known as Dolly Parton's Stampede.

The show's website has already been updated to reflect the new name, which Parton said was spurred by "changing attitudes," in a statement.

Parton also said she feels that "by streamlining the names of our shows, it will remove any confusion or concerns about our shows and will help our efforts to expand into new cities.”

World Choice Investments, LLC, which already has dinner show attractions in Pigeon Forge, TN; Branson, MO and Myrtle Beach, SC, is hoping the change will help the company expand past the southeastern U.S.

“There is interest in several parts of the United States and internationally to host one of our unique dinner attraction shows,” Jim Rule, World Choice Investments CEO, said. “Our desire to expand coupled with our desire to stay relevant in today’s changing world led us to simplify our shows’ names.”
