Domestic violence issue leads to house fire, deadly shooting in Mount Holly, police say

A Mount Holly police officer shot and killed an armed suspect while responding to a domestic violence call at a local home Sunday morning, authorities said. Reports indicate the suspect was armed with a sword.

The shooting happened around 8 a.m. Sunday, March 3 in the 300 block of Dutchman's Meadow Drive. 

Mount Holly Police responded to the home for reports of a man inside a house with a sword. The house caught on fire at some point and the armed man jumped out of the window as officers arrived on scene.

The armed suspect, identified as 42-year-old Larry Hoover was then shot and killed by a Mount Holly police officer, authorities said. The officer has been identified as 33-year-old Lee Farris.

This case remains under investigation.
