Authorities in Cleveland County are looking for a gunman who fired shots at the home of two elderly women Saturday morning.
According to a deputy with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department, a 50-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman were drinking coffee on the front porch of their Shelby home around 7:50 a.m. Saturday, when someone fired several shots from at them with a shotgun loaded with bird shot.
The ladies reported seeing a fairly new grey or white car drive by their home, which is on a dead end road. The car then passed by their house again and stopped. The ladies say someone inside the car fired 6 or 7 times and then the car drove off.
Investigators found dozens of holes in the side of the home.
The women were treated at the scene.
Deputies say this shooting happened in a quiet section of Cleveland County and do not believe the women were targeted by the shooter. Investigators are calling it a random shooting.
