Ex-teacher charged with 20 counts of sexual assault

Police arrested a man they say is responsible for 20 counts of sexual assault.

65-year-old Allen Sloop Lowrance was arrested by authorities at his home in Mooresville.

Police report the sexual abuse happened from December 2014 to October 2015.

Police only began looking into Lowrance after someone came forward and said they were sexually abused by Lowrance in the 1970's. Lowrance was a special education teacher at South Iredell High School from 1974-1977. The person who reported the abuse was a student of Lowrance's at the time, according to police.

He's been charged with 22 counts of second degree sex offense for incidents that happened within the last year. He is in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
