Family asks for privacy after teen makes court appearance for armed robbery, murder

The family of 16-year-old Ziaya Jackson opting for privacy Tuesday afternoon outside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.

"If you could just respect our privacy at this time, that would be a blessing," said one family member.

Jackson making her first court appearance being charged with armed robbery and murder of 36-year-old Maria Gomez back on April 3rd on Barrington Drive in East Charlotte. 

Jackson turned herself in Sunday to CMPD.

The judge set her bond at $50,000 for the armed robbery but refused bond for the murder charge. 

Her next court dates will be April 18th and 30th. 

Jackson is the fourth person charged with armed robbery and murder. 

19-year-old Antonio Shine was the first to be charged last week. 

17-year-old A'vone Williams and a 15-year-old juvenile boy were arrested and charged too.
