CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police department is investigating a shooting that happened in the University neighborhood over the weekend.
Officers responded to the 6000 block of North Tryon Street around 7:40 p.m. Saturday. Someone called 911 after a group of people were shot at while trying to shop at the Family Dollar.
Elijah Carr told Fox 46 Charlotte he was with a group of family members when people outside the store started hassling his brother and sister, and then began shooting at them.
Carr was sitting in the car when the shots started. The vehicle was damaged by the gunfire. His sister was struck in the leg and foot but is expected to be okay.
A police report indicates there was potential damage/injury to other property and/or people due to the shooting.
At this time there have been no arrests and police are still searching for suspects.
