Fatal tanker truck fire shuts down Hwy. 301 near I-95 in South Carolina

SANTEE, S.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) -- A massive tanker truck fire has led authorities to close a portion of U.S. Hwy. 301 near its junction with Interstate 95 near the town of Santee.

The wreck happened one mile south of Exit 98. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports it was a fatal crash.

The fire and fuel have been contained, according to  the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Traffic on I-95 was flowing normally.

Traffic on U.S. 301 was being re-routed.
