UNION COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The suspect accused of leading deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle from Mecklenburg County to Union County Tuesday afternoon has been identified.
Robert Dean Wilson, 48, of Indian Trail, has been charged with resist, delay and obstruct, felony feeling to elude, driving while license revoked, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felonious restraint, and possession of methamphetamine.
Around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, a stolen blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was located by a license plate reader around South Blvd and Scaleybark Rd. The car was reported stolen by the Marshville Police Department.
CMPD officers attempted to stop the car around South and Sharon Lakes Rd., but the driver refused an continued driving. CMPD was not involved in a vehicle pursuit with the suspects, and instead used a helicopter unit to track the vehicle.
Police say the suspects went down South Blvd. to the Sharon Rd. West where they cut across to Park Rd. He continued southbound and traveled on Highway 51 and Carmel Road, then made his way to the Audrey Kell Rd./Providence Rd. area, eventually traveling into Union County.
Union County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to stop the car and apprehend the suspects. Authorites say the suspect, Wilson, and a woman were in the car.
This investigation is active and police say additional charges are likely.
