Fire Captain found dead in Albemarle

Captain Alan "Truck" Hicks was found dead by fellow firefighters Monday morning at firehouse, according to Carolinas fire page.

Hicks was among a group of firefighters that responded to a house fire in Albemarle Sunday night.

Hicks was captain of the NC Air National Guard (NCANG) fire department stationed at the Stanly County Airport (Station 28). For over 15 years Captain Hicks dedicated his life to the residents of Cabarrus County, Stanly County, and North Carolina and to the safety of all the firefighters he has worked with. 

He is the father of GVFD (Georgeville Volunteer Fire Department) firefighter Keith Hicks.

“Alan will never be forgotten and will always be a part of our family.” NCANG Fire Emergency Services Fire Chief Daryl Cook reiterates the accolades for Captain Hicks contributions to the community; “He was a passionate Firefighter and Fire Captain who was interested in getting the best training and equipment for the community, the department and his fellow firefighters. He played an intricate role in strategic equipment planning that will resonate in our department for years to come.”

A Line of Duty Death Firefighter funeral will be held for Captain Hicks. The funeral will be on 230 Refuge Hwy, Kannapolis, NC on July 31, 2015. A wake will take palce from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with the service right after. A gravside service will take place at the Mallard Creek Baptist Church.
