Fire causes $50,000 in damages to Gastonia home

A fire caused more than $50,000 in damages to a house in Gastonia Monday evening, according to the Gastonia Fire Department. Several people were inside the home when the fire started, but made it out safely. 

The fire happened at 5:33 p.m. Monday, October 24 at a residence located at 1015 Holland Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters said the back of the one-story home was engulfed in flames. Crews extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes. No injuries were reported. 

The Gaston County Chapter of the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
