(FOX 46 WJZY) - A child has died of the flu in South Carolina, the state's first pediatric flu-death this season, according to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
DHEC officials said the child died from complications associated with the flu in the Midlands region.
So far, South Carolina has seen 106 flu deaths this season. North Carolina has seen 140.
This year’s flu season ranks among the most severe in recent years.

- A 100 degree fever or higher or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)

- A runny or stuffy nose
- Headaches and/or body aches
- Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in
