Five suspects charged in Monroe murder case

On Thursday, September 8, and into Friday, Monroe Police arrested and charged five suspects for the murder of Crisoforo Victorino. 

Jamarius Davon Burns, 18, Robert Lee Ashcraft, 17, Jaleel Nivens, 19, Zaire Nakwon Funderburk, 17, and Jemerik Q. Garmon, 16,  were arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Burglary and Felony Conspiracy. They are all currently being held under no bond in the Union County Jail.

"There was a tremendous amount of work and evidence gathered by our officers who worked tirelessly to track down every and all leads and information related to this case,” said Monroe Police Chief Bryan Gilliard. “These arrests are a culmination of countless man hours and a dedication of officers to seek justice.”

Monroe Police were offering a $5,000 reward that lead to the arrest of any suspects involved in the shooting death of Victorino.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Massey Street in reference to a shooting on Sunday, August 21, around 2:00 a.m.

When officers arrived they found Victorino, 41, dead inside his home from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Special Agents of the State Bureau of Investigation assisted in this investigation.
