Former student accused of making violent threats at Gaston Co. HS arrested

A former student has been arrested after police said he made violent threats towards a local high school in Gaston County. 

Shiquan Eleek Ratchford, 17, of Gastonia is charged with two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct by disrupting students, one count of misdemeanor cyber stalking, and one felony count of making a false report concerning mass violence on education property.

On Wednesday, January 3, Gaston County Police received a report of threats being made to Hunter Huss High School via Facebook. 

Gaston County Police in conjunction with the Gastonia Police Department were able to identify the Facebook account used to make the threats, culminating in the arrest of Ratchford just past midnight on January 4.

Ratchford is currently in the Gaston County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.  He is a former student at Hunter Huss High School.
