GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — The funeral for former U.S. Rep. Howard Coble of North Carolina will be held next week in his native Guilford County.
The funeral home making arrangements says Coble's service is scheduled for noon Tuesday at Westover Church in Greensboro, with visitation Tuesday morning at the church.
Coble died Tuesday night at age 84. He represented the 6th Congressional District for 30 years, leaving his seat at the end of last year. He was the longest serving Republican U.S. House member in North Carolina history.
Coble previously served as a state revenue secretary, state House member and assistant federal prosecutor.
