Funeral services held for paramedic, Army veteran, killed by husband

The funeral services for a Mecklenburg County EMS paramedic and Army veteran were held on Friday night. 

Rebekah Madelynn Hart-O'Sullivan was born on April 30, 1966 in New Castle, PA, and served as a paramedic with Mecklenburg County EMS since 2010. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

“Rebekah had a strong commitment to her co-workers and was dedicated to serving the people of Mecklenburg County,” said Joe Penner, executive director, Mecklenburg EMS Agency. “Her absence will leave an empty space in the hearts of our employees, her friends and family for many years to come.”

Rebekah was killed by her husband, Partick O'Sullivan on Thursday, Jan. 4. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police responded to the couple's home at 104 Todd Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found her dead inside of the home.

Following an investigation officers determined that Rebekah had been in a 'domestic dispute' with her husband. During the fight, Patrick shot his wife several times. 

Patrick O'Sullivan has since been arrested and charged with murder.
