Gas line leak in uptown prompts evacuation, shuts down road

A gas line leak in uptown Charlotte prompted an evacuation at an apartment building and shut down an area road Thursday morning, according to sources. 

The gas line leak shut down West Trade Street between Cedar Street and Graham Street. 

Citizens were asked to please avoid the area. HAZMAT was called to the scene. 

Construction work resumed and most emergency crews left the scene around 8:30 a.m.
