Gastonia fire causes $90K in damages

Gastonia firefighters responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to the 700 block of South Chester Street in Gastonia. They found a two story home with heavy fire coming from the roof and windows.

No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished in 45 minutes, with no injuries reported.

An estimated $90,000 in damages was caused by the fire and the home is a total loss, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
