Gastonia Man arrested after standoff with police

A Gastonia man was arrested after a standoff with police Wednesday afternoon.

Gaston County Police responded to Jeran Lane around 4:00 p.m. in reference to a man driving drunk and dragging a person with his car before showing a gun to witnesses, according to police.

Officers watched 44-year-old Danny Andrew Bull break out the rear window of a car and raise a pistol and point it toward a wooded area.

He then moved out of their site and the department's Emergency Response Team was called out. They found Bull hiding in the back of the same car that was damaged.

Bull was arrested after a short standoff with police where he refused to get out of the vehicle.

Police found an airsoft-type bb pistol, which looked extremely realistic, according to police.

Police say there is no ongoing connection between Bull and the Jeran Lane neighborhood at this time.

Bull is charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, assault and damage to property.
