Gastonia shooting may be related to case of road rage

Gastonia Police are investigating a shooting that may be connected to a road rage incident. 

Police say around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, a man was found in the parking lot of Eastridge Mall with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center for treatment. 

Preliminary information indicates that this is a possible result of a case of road rage and the shooting occurred on New Hope Road or I-85. The victim then pulled into the mall parking lot for help.

The investigation is in early stages and no further information is being released at this time.
