Gun violence topic of forum at site of Charleston shooting

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Experts from across the country are gathering at the Charleston church where nine people were shot and killed earlier this year to discuss ways to reduce gun violence.

Friday's forum at Emanuel AME Church is sponsored by the College of Charleston.

Speakers include Dr. Wayne J. Riley, the president of the American College of Physicians and Ronald Sullivan, the faculty director of the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute.

The forum is being held as the six-month anniversary of the Emanuel AME shootings approaches and only days after 14 people were killed and nearly two dozen seriously wounded in a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.
