DENVER, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - FOX 46 Charlotte has covered erosion problems at the Village of Denver that looks more like the “Cliffs of Denver.” Now, homeowners say heavy equipment brought in to fix some of the problems has created bigger holes.
Clare Friday and her family thought they bought their forever home three years ago, but after a couple months they noticed cracks forming in the backyard.
“We were suspicious like 'this is not right,'” said Friday. “Now it’s turning into just a nightmare.”
She says Lennar Homes has sent team to repair erosion five times. The latest crew came two weeks ago, digging up thirty feet of dirt.
“And they put good dirt apparently, they have big, huge, heavy equipment coming here to press down the solid.”

But the fifth repair still did not work.
“I’m very mad because we are paying a mortgage, we can’t even come out here and play.”
She keeps her three children and two dogs out of the backyard.
“My biggest fear is that something could happen to one of my kids.”
Inside, the foundation of her home is also falling apart.
“There’s a big crack coming from the top all the way to the end.”
With rain in the forecast this weekend, Friday worries the erosion will only get worse.
“I just hope my house doesn’t wash off, wash off this hill.”
Lincoln County has previously told FOX 46 Charlotte they have received multiple complaints about this area, but it’s up to the home builders to fix.
In a statement, Lennar Homes said: “The safety and satisfaction of our homeowners are our utmost priorities. Lennar is aware of the erosion issue and is working closely with engineers to implement remediation tailored to each of the individual home sites.
