A Hickory man has been sentenced to at least 15 years in jail for sexually abusing a little girl, according to the Catawba County Superior Court.

Rodriquez Darius Griffith, 31, could serve up to 23 years after he pled guilty to two counts of statutory rape, two counts of incest with a child under 13 and first-degree sex offense. He will also be placed on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

According to the court, Griffith engaged in sexual acts with the 7-year-old girl between January 2015 and August 2016. The victim told her mother that the defendant would "stick things inside her," and another family member says he say the defendant commit the acts on several occasions.

A forensic interview with the victim revealed that Griffith had sexually assaulted her on several occasions and had sexual intercourse with her at other times for more than a year.
