HICKORY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Hickory Police are still investigating after a nightclub shooting left one dead and three others injured.
Usually quiet, downtown Hickory was rocked by gunfire in the early morning hours on Sunday, April 8.
A witness described the moments bullets started flying along First Ave. Northwest.
"I heard shots. It was all an automatic weapon because it was simultaneous. Boom, boom, boom, boom,” he said.
Hickory police say they responded to a 911 call for shots fired outside the Vault Bar and Lounge just before 2:00 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found numerous shell casings along the street.
At the same time, investigators say 20-year-old antonio watts of claremont arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound, and later died from his injuries.
"A bullet has no friends. It will come through a house and kill somebody."
Hickory Police say three other victims also showed up at nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds: Garan Wilburn, 25 as well as Keeuntae Kee, 23 and Joe Tipps, 28.
Kee and Tipps have been treated and released.
Investigators say all four victims Sunday morning were customers at the Vault Bar and Longue.
Police have not released a suspect or motive for the shooting. Anyone who witnessed the gunfire in the downtown area is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-261-2621.
