A man who police say dressed as a clown and swung an ax at a woman turned himself in Wednesday.
Hickory Police say he turned himself in around 2:15 p.m. and is being held under a $6,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is set for September 16, 2015.
Authorities say Jimmy Daniel Raybon came to the woman's house about 4:30 a.m. Friday wearing a clown mask and a multicolored wig.
Raybon didn't hurt the woman, and she was able to remove his mask and recognized him as an acquaintance before he left, according to police.
The woman decided to go to a judge and request an arrest warrant for an assault with a deadly weapon after talking to officers.
A motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
