UNION COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Human remains were discovered in a badly burned home early Friday morning just outside of Marshville, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
The fatal house fire happened around 6 a.m. Friday, March 16 at a house located in the 2300 block of Hasty Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the single-story home heavily engulfed in flames. It wasn't until after the fire was under control that human remains were found inside.
The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is assisting the Union County Sheriff's Office with the fire scene examination.
