Huntersville police search for man accused of recording young boys in bathrooms

Police are searching for a man accused of secretly taping young boys at bathrooms across the Huntersville area.

Oscar Nolasco Hernandez is wanted for 15 felony counts of secret peeping public bathrooms, according to the Huntersville Police Department. The recordings were all found on Hernandez's cell phone.

“I mean, that's sickening!” said one customer.

Two of those incidents happened at the Target at Sam Furr Road. His last known location was the Huntersville Apartments on Hunters Road.

“It could happen to any of us, but children we have to watch out for," another customer told FOX 46.

Police say June 4, a boy said someone was recording him in the restroom at Target. Surveillance footage gave police a picture of Hernandez, and when he came back another day, an employee gave officers a call.

“[We] seized his phone,” said Huntersville Police Department PIO Odette Saglimbeni, “and that's where we observed the additional videos and identified an additional victim.”

They believe there are 15 victims in all, but police aren’t sure if all the recordings happened at Target.

Regardless, people are downright disgusted, and sympathetic toward the kids.

“It can scar them. It disgusts them,” said customer Chad Torres. “It could be scared. Or some, they might take it the wrong way and think that it's okay because they see an adult doing it, but it'll definitely scare you and it is gross.”

Police went to Hernandez’s apartment to arrest him, but they say it appears he already moved out. Now they’re hoping the community can help them track him down again, and get him off the streets, and out of public restrooms.

Authorities are also looking for a car he was driving: a 2005 Blue Lexis GS with South Carolina license plate QXB698.
