Independence High School students camping out to protect their football field from vandals.
Charlotte, NC - After Independence High School was vandalized Wednesday night a group of students camped out on the field Thursday night to protect their school.
The camp out was a success even though visitors showed up with water balloons.
The vandalism came two days before a big rivalry game.
The goal post was damaged and BHS was spray painted on the field, according to Patriot Athletics twitter.
The school plays Butler Friday night for the Southwest 41 Championship. It's a rivalry that's been going on for a long time.
CMS officials say they do not know the cost on the cleanup.
