IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office added a new addition to their family this week. "Tito," a 16-month-old black Labrador retriever, has been assigned to Deputy Madison Sharpe.
Tito is large, friendly and very huggable. He also has special capabilities to use if needed. Tito is trained in tracking missing children or elderly people and he can also detect drugs, deputies said.
Deputy Sharpe is currently assigned to the Mobile Youth Education Classroom and visits between three and six elementary schools each day in Iredell County.
"Part of our commitment to keep schools safe is having an officer presence at the schools who do not have School Resource Officers assigned to them. Using Deputy Sharpe, and Tito gives us an officer presence in these schools to help keep them safe and so we can builds relationships with the students and administration," the sheriff's office said.
