Jury selection in Kevin Olsen rape trial to continue Friday

Eight jurors have been selected in the rape trial of former UNCC quarterback, Kevin Olsen. Four more jurors and two alternates need to be selected.

Jury selection was full of disruptions Thursday.

Olsen is the brother of Carolina Panthers’ tight end Greg Olsen.

Kevin Olsen is on trial for raping his former girlfriend in February 2017, while the two were dating.

During jury selection Thursday, one of the potential jurors referred to Olsen’s attorney, George Laughrun, as a “fat cat lawyer.”

It was one of several times Thursday when the judge made everyone leave the courtroom.

That potential juror was promptly dismissed.

The disruptions are prompting a very slow-moving jury selection in a case that has already taken more than a year and a half to go to trial.
