Matthews Police Department's K9 Caster was celebrated this week for all his hard work and years of service as he officially retired from his police duties.

K9 Castor was recognized by the Matthews Board of Commissioners for his service while his removal of the badge ceremony was performed by his partner, Officer Kevin Osuch.

Castor joined the Matthews Police Department in 2011 as a dual purpose narcotics and apprehension dog while assigned to Officer Osuch, authorities said.

Castor will now enjoy his well-deserved retirement with Officer Kevin Osuch and his family.
