K9 helps police catch man with heroin, marijuana, stolen gun

A Charlotte man was arrested in Union County for having nearly 80 grams of heroin, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office. 

Jason Eric Jenkins, 30, was stopped in a Walmart parking lot in Monroe. Detectives were alerted to the presence of the narcotics by a police K-9 Unit. 

 A subsequent search of Jenkins’ car revealed that he was in possession of heroin, marijuana and two handguns-- one of which was stolen.

Jenkins has been charged with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of marijuana. 

He is being held in the Union County Jail.
