A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person who shot a family's horse in the head.

On Saturday, Nov. 18 around mid-afternoon, Lancaster County Sheriff's deputies responded to 5375 Old Church Rd. where a family had found their horse, 'Boss,' dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

In the video, it appears the horse was shot around 3:00 a.m. and went down for the final time around 8:00 a.m. The video also showed a vehicle pulling a trailer-- with distinct reflective tape-- that passed the property at least three times between 11:30 p.m. and 6:40 a.m.

A light can also be seen moving across the ridgeline of the owners’ pasture a little after 5:30 a.m.. Authorities believe this could be someone with a flashlight walking on the property.

"We want to help the owners find out what happened to Boss and hold the person who did this accountable. We hope someone saw or heard something that night or has heard talk in the community and encourage anyone with information about this to contact us," Sheriff Barry Faile said.

Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
