Lenovo announced the employee at the center of an SBI investigation regarding a conflict of interest case in Union County is leaving the company. Jason Mooneyham had been Vice President of Sales at the computer company Lenovo. While he held that position, he was also treasurer of the company Educatrx, a company owned by Union County Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellis.
Union County Schools recently bought 10,000 computers from Lenovo, a sale worth millions of dollars. Some Union Board of Education members and county commissioners say there may have been a conflict of interest in the sale.
A spokesperson for Lenovo said the company is not affiliated with Educatrx, and has not done any business with them. The spokesperson also said, "Jason is leaving Lenovo to pursue other opportunities."
