Levine Children's Hospital receives special Halloween surprise

Volunteers from a local Halloween store surprised dozens of young patients at Levine Children's Hospital with their dream costumes for the holiday.

It's a moment to escape reality and just be a kid.

All of them brought together on this day to live out their imagination. Despite their circumstances.

The spirit of children program comes to Levine Children's Hospital every year around this time with a focus to make the hospital experience less scary for kids and their families.

Organizers of the event tell Fox 46 this is not only rewarding for the families, but also the children who get to leave their hospital beds and enjoy being a child.

"They feel that things are going well. They're not going the right way. And all of a sudden they get an opportunity to come down and see the costumes," Scott Barserian, organizer of the event said.

The Spirit Halloween store donated all the costumes and the Spirit of Children Program raises money throughout the year to sponsor events like this. Some parents are just grateful someone is chipping in when money is tight.

They're all just looking forward to trick or treat, even if it's just in these hallways
