LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (FOX 46) - The State of North Carolina Forest Service, the Lincoln County Fire Marshall's Office and the Catawba County Fire Marshal's Office issued burning bans countywide on Monday and Tuesday.
The ban prohibits all open burning regardless of whether a permit was previously issued or not. New permits will be suspended until the ban is over.
- This burning ban does not apply to cooking fires such as grills or outdoor cookers.
- Open burning includes burning leaves, branches and other plant material. In all cases, it is illegal to burn trash, lumber, tires, newspapers, plastics or other non-vegetative materials.
- Violation of this burning ban carries a $100.00 fine plus court costs of $180.00
