James Blair was charged with one count of statutory rape and more charges will follow, according to the SBI.

A secured bond has been set at $1,000,000.

The SBI announced Wednesday they were looking into allegations that a Lowell Police Officer had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

The request was made by Chief Ramey of the Gaston County Police Department and a concurring request from District Attorney Locke Bell was given.

It is not clear when the alleged relationship occurred, or how the allegations came to light.
