Man accused of inappropriately touching 12-year-old along west Charlotte trail

A man is facing multiple charges after he forced a 12-year-old boy into a wooded area along a west Charlotte trail and then inappropriately touched him, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. 

The incident happened at 6:33 p.m. Saturday, March 16 in the 4900 block of Tuckaseegee Road. The young boy was able to flag down a marked patrol car and told an officer that he had just been inappropriately touched by a stranger. 

The boy said he was walking down a trail in the area when the suspect, identified as Animir Roberts, 22, came up to him. Roberts attempted to force the boy further into the wooded area and then touched him. The boy was able to push and get away from the suspect, and then flag down an officer. 

CMPD officers were able to quickly locate and arrest Roberts. He is charged with indecent liberties with a child and first-degree kidnapping.
