A man accused of stealing a Maserati and robbing a Cash America Pawn Shop is now off the street after he was caught following a police chase.

It really was by chance that police found 24-year-old Jango Touray and the stolen Maserati.

CMPD says he’s facing nine new charges because police got a call about a robbery at a pawn shop in north Charlotte this afternoon.

They found the car that matched the description of the stolen black Maserati, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

A brief chase ensued, ending in a crash on Plaza Walk Drive.

The driver was taken away on a stretcher and arrested. The 2008 Maserati Grand Tourissimo is damaged, and police confirm it's the same car that was stolen from gulf import on North Tryon last week.

Detectives say Touray walked into the dealership and demanded keys at gunpoint.

This weekend alone, CMPD arrested seven people for breaking into cars and homes in different neighborhoods.

On Winterfield Place, Jose Pena was arrested after a neighbor spotted him pulling on door handles. When he was taken into custody, police found several stolen items on him.

Down the street on Connecticut Avenue, Leon Williams and a 14-year-old boy were found breaking into car.

In a neighborhood of Cedar Trail Lane, Dana Denena and Faith Tillman were caught breaking into cars.

Combined, this couple has nearly 60 different arrests in Mecklenburg County.

Overall, it was a good weekend to get the bad guys off the streets for CMPD.
