Man arrested in deadly Conover shooting

A Conover man involved in a double shooting made his first court appearance Friday and received no bond.

The Conover Police Department made an arrest Thursday stemming from a deadly shooting that happened Wednesday night.

25-year-old Daniel Williamson was taken into custody and charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police responded to a domestic situation involving a gun around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived they found two victims with gunshot wounds. Lisa Vanhoogen, 28, was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center and is in stable condition and 25-year-old Michael Anthony Beltran was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Williamson knew the person he shot and killed, according to authorities. He's being held in the Catawba County Detention Center. Williamson's next court date is set for October 2.
