Man charged after leading officer on foot chase outside Eastridge Mall, shots fired

The 19-year-old accused of shooting at officers outside Eastridge Mall is behind bars on a $1 million bond.

An officer responded to Eastrdige Mall Monday to investigate a stolen vehicle case. The victim of the stolen vehicle found the car at the mall and gave the officer a description of the suspect. The officer found the suspect in the mall and tried to arrest him. The man led the officer on a foot chase.

Investigators say Jamoral Lee Hill fired at least one shot at a Gastonia Police Officer while running from the officer.

Hill jumped over a wall and fell 15-20 feet, according to police and was arrested. He was taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, he has since been released.

Hill has been charged with attempted first degree murder, assault on a law enforcement office with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, resist, delay and obstruct.

Hill's next court date will be February 16.
