CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A 13-year-old boy is recovering after being stabbed multiple times during what investigators are calling a domestic violence incident.
According to a police report, the suspect in this case stabbed a woman and the 13-year-old boy with the intent to kill them.
The incident occurred at a small home off Linwood Avenue in the Thomasboro-Hoskins neighborhood. Neighbors tell FOX 46 Charlotte there has been trouble there before, but nothing like what happened Monday morning.
Dozens of officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers arrived just after 2 a.m. and found a 32-year-old woman and 13-year-old boy with stab wounds. Both were taken to Atrium Health with serious injuries.
By Monday afternoon, 40-year-old Reginald Hall was arrested. He also suffered a wound in the Monday morning attack. He was charged with assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.
Unfortunately, domestic violence cases are familiar to investigators in Mecklenburg County.
Numbers from the Domestic Violence Data Warehouse show that six people were killed as a result of domestic violence last year in Mecklenburg County. That number spiked to 15 in 2017. Nearly 9,000 police reports filed in were filed labeling a domestic violence relationship in 2017.
Mecklenburg County has set up several resources for those who are victims of domestic violence.
