Man charged in Shelby officer's murder makes first court appearance

The man accused or murdering Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen has made his first appearance in a Rhode Island courtroom to hear his charges. 

Irving Fenner Jr., 23, was captured in Rhode Island just days after the shooting last Saturday.

Authorities told FOX 46 Charlotte Officer Brackeen was looking for Fenner to serve warrants on him. The two struggled before Brackeen was shot in the chest. He died on Monday. 

Police found Fenner at his uncle's girlfriend's apartment early Wednesday morning in Rhode Island.
