Man charged with rape, kidnapping of woman in September

Police say a man has been arrested for the rape and kidnapping of a woman outside a Charlotte gas station back in September.

The assault happened about 5:30 a.m. on September 14 off Lawyers Road.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the 22-year-old woman was at a gas station when the suspect got into her car and forced her to drive off. While in the vehicle, the suspect pulled out a weapon and sexually assaulted the victim before takin off, police said.

The suspect, now identified as 24-year-old Lajames Ross, was arrested in Lancaster County, South Carolina and will be extradited back to North Carolina.

Ross is charged with two counts of first degree kidnapping, first degree sex offense, and first degree rape.
