Man dies in hospital following weekend shooting in Rock Hill

A man has died in the hospital from his injuries following a weekend shooting at an event in Rock Hill, police said. 

The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at 199 South Cherry Road at the site of the old American Legion building. 

Upon arrival, police discovered a 24-year-old man had been taken to Piedmont Medical Center by unknown means. The victim was then transported to CMC-Main in Charlotte where he passed away. The identification of the victim will be released by the York County Coroner's Office. 

This incident marks the first homicide of 2018 for Rock Hill, police said.
