CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A man was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after he was struck by a sweeper train while reportedly sleeping on the tracks early Monday morning in south Charlotte, police said.
The incident happened at 4:58 a.m. near Old Pineville Road south of Woodlawn Road.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the man, identified as Maurice Devalier Jones, 31, was incapacitated due to alcohol and drugs. He suffered minor injuries including bruises and scratches after he was struck by the train while reportedly sleeping on the tracks.
Authorities on scene told FOX 46 Charlotte the man is in stable condition.
CATS had a bus bridge in place Monday morning for commuters following this incident.
